Went to a LAN party yesterday at Aneil’s place. Was good fun. We played UT 3, Wolfenstien Enemy Territory, Warcraft 3 and traded files and stuff at insanely high speeds. Well everyone else did as for some reason I can’t see files over networks on my machine and no one can see me anymore either. It used to work but I think I must have went through some performance or security guide at some point and disabled some obscure thing that prevents things from working.

It’s been a while since I’ve reinstalled Windows on my machine so I’m thinking I might do it some time soon.

While it is most commonly known as the land the Zelda games take place in, it also happens to be the SSID for my wireless network.

I was heading to the mall today to do some last minute Christmas shopping I saw my neighbor as I was getting in to my car. He asked me if I had a wireless network to which I said yes. He asked if it was called “Hyrule”. I said yes, smiled and got in to my car. I felt so violated .

Yes, my wireless network is wide open, no encryption at all. I’ve just been to lazy to set it up and I’m pretty sure no one around here is smart enough to do any real damage.

Well today was a monumental day indeed. 3DRealms released a screenshot and promised a video tomorrow of Duke Nukem Forever… that game that’s been in development for like 15 years. A lot has happened in the time but the funniest I find is that “the two Mars rovers, Spirit and Opportunity were proposed, authorized, announced, designed, launched and successfully landed upon Mars where they have been exploring the surface for over 2.5 years” (fact stolen word for word from the Duke Nukem Forever List). Anyway, here’s the shot they released today:

Oh and my dentist said, that since I’m not in constant pain, just to leave my wisdom teeth in there. He did comment on my gums still being infected but not in a region of the gum that causes pain. Should I start getting constant infections then it’s probably a good idea to take them out. I’ll just have to wait and see I guess.

I actually browsed through the other videos (ok ok, Bono’s video). But I can see myself going back there and checking some other videos out.

Sadly, I’m not taking a vacation but instead my dentist did. He returns December 17th. I’m no longer in terrible pain, which I’m attributing to the Tylenol 3, but the pain is still non-zero. I’m not really sure if the antibiotics are doing anything for me as I poked my finger around in my mouth just as I was leaving work and sent mind numbing pain coursing through my body .

So the gums around my wisdom teeth on the right side of my mouth have become infected resulting in unending pain. It started Friday morning and wasn’t that bad. By Friday night though, I was suffering from pretty annoying pain. I didn’t sleep much and only managed to fall asleep at around 5 AM when my father, who was just waking up for the day, recommended I rinse out my mouth with some whiskey. My dentist doesn’t work on Saturday which I discovered after traveling to his office. I called his office and the message that greeted me provided a phone number for the Dental Emergency Services which is open 7 days a week until midnight. The dentist that saw me there gave me antibiotics and prescription strength Tylenol 3 that is supposed to tide me over until my dentist can see me. I can safely say that the Tylenol hasn’t really provided me with much relief unfortunately. I did manage to catch my boss online today and asked him if I could work form home tomorrow so I can try to see my dentist who’s office is about 5 minutes away from me. I’m guessing he will recommend removing my wisdom teeth. Guess we’ll see tomorrow…
